Privacy Policy

• Account info: Your email address and display name, provided when you sign up.
• Cleanup activity: Cleanup reports, litter reports, quick pickups, event signups, volunteer sessions, and challenge participation you voluntarily log.
• Photos: Before/after cleanup photos you upload. EXIF metadata (including GPS coordinates) is stripped from photos before storage. If metadata stripping fails, the photo is not uploaded.
• Location data: Cleanup area locations and litter report coordinates you place on the map. Volunteer sessions may store your start/end GPS coordinates privately for verification purposes. Litter report coordinates are stored to help locate reported debris. Public map coordinates are generalized (fuzzed to approximately 150 feet) before being shown to other users. Your private location data is not exposed as a public movement history.

• All data is transmitted over secure HTTPS connections.
• Photo EXIF metadata (GPS coordinates) is stripped before storage. If stripping fails, the upload is blocked — the original photo is never stored with metadata.
• You control what's visible — use the display name editor on your profile to show a nickname. If you select "Display Name" mode but haven't set one, you'll appear as "A volunteer" — your real name is never shown without your explicit choice.
• Public map coordinates are fuzzed server-side to approximately 150 feet to protect precise locations.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
• We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising analytics.

• Active accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
• Cleanup records: Community cleanup history (area names, bags collected, hours) is preserved to maintain accurate community impact statistics, even if you delete your account. Personal identifiers (email, name, internal user ID) are removed from these records.
• Photos: Photo URLs are removed from your records when you delete your account. The platform manages file storage and may retain backup copies of uploaded files for a limited period as part of normal storage operations. We cannot guarantee immediate physical deletion of all file copies.
• Contact inquiries: Retained until reviewed and archived by an administrator. There is no automatic deletion schedule.

You can delete your account at any time from your Profile page under the "Danger Zone" section.

When you delete your account:

• Your personal information (email, display name, volunteer names) is removed from all records.
• Your internal user ID is removed from all records so they cannot be reconnected to you.
• Your cleanup contributions remain in aggregate community statistics with all identifying information removed (shown as "A volunteer").
• Your private records (event signups, feedback, follows, cheers, volunteer sessions) are deleted.
• Photo URLs are removed from your records. Stored image files may persist in platform backups for a limited period.
• Platform account: The platform-managed login account itself may not be immediately deleted through this app. After deleting your data, please sign out. Contact us if you need the login account itself removed.

• Litter reports: The coordinates where you report debris are stored and shown on the public map (fuzzed to ~150 feet) so volunteers can find and clean up the litter.
• Volunteer sessions: If you use the volunteer session feature, your start and end GPS coordinates may be stored privately (visible only to you and admins) for verification purposes.
• Cleanup areas: Public map pins show approximate, fuzzed coordinates — not precise GPS positions.
• Quick pickups: Optional approximate location fields (city, state) are private and never shown on a public map.
• Photos: GPS metadata embedded in uploaded photos is stripped before storage.
• Your private location data is never displayed as a public movement history or tracking feed.

CleanBlock Civic is intended for users 13 and older. Minors under 18 should participate in cleanup activities with adult supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
